My name is Janice Park, the chief editor of this website. I also go by the nick name “Perfect”, named by schoolmates. I live in Australia pretty much half of my life. Before discovering the internet, I was a freshman (girl). After over a decade of career developing in commerce, I decided it was time for a change, and the internet was where I was going to stake my claim. Well, after over a year, I thought it was finally time to launch my personal blog. I’m sure most people would enjoy reading my posts and share it with friends. Feel free to click onto pictures splashed across webpages. For the first time visitor, this site is originally built as a hobby for blogging and sharing about Christianity, health, wealth, family, environment, entertainment, and education. Now it’s changed to cover more topics as listed at the bottom of each webpage and on the right side bar. AngelQuills.com is The Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Dot Com Angel, because that is what I am – a Dot Com Angel – and that is what I’ll be doing – rambling. On December 2009, I started this AngelQuills.com. That site has a series of subsidiary sites providing internet services, building websites, developing software, reselling computer hardware on the net. Currently all the sites have over 10,000 pages and gets over 200,000 page views per day. Besides taking care of the day to day business, I can be seen riding my bike around Sydney, working out at Health Club or hiking Blue Mountain. I am best known for my famous quote “Simple life is the best!” and “Live the life to the fullness!”
I call you when I need you, my heart’s on fire You come to me, come to me wild and wired Mmm, you come to me Give me everything I need Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams Speak a language of love like you know what it means Mmm, it can’t be wrong Take my heart and make it strong, baby
You’re simply the best, better than all the rest Better than anyone, anyone I’ve ever met I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say Tear us apart no, no, baby, I would rather be dead
In your heart I see the star of every night and every day In your eyes I get lost, I get washed away Just as long as I’m here in your arms I could be in no better place
You’re simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I’ve ever met I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say Tear us apart no, no, baby, I would rather be dead
Each time you leave me I start losing control You’re walking away with my heart and my soul I can feel you even when I’m alone Oh baby, don’t let go
Ooh you’re the best (woo) Better than all the rest Better than anyone, anyone I’ve ever met Ooh, I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say Don’t tear us apart no, no, no,
Baby, I would rather be dead Oooh, you’re the best!

I like this song straight away for the first time I heard of it, so as the name of the singer I’ve never know her until this song comes out.
As I always told my friends simple life is the best!
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord I’ve been waiting for this moment, all my life, Oh Lord Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord, Oh Lord
Well, if you told me you were drowning I would not lend a hand I’ve seen your face before my friend But I don’t know if you know who I am Well, I was there and I saw what you did I saw it with my own two eyes So you can wipe off the grin, I know where you’ve been It’s all been a pack of lies
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord And I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, Oh Lord, Oh Lord
Well I remember, I remember don’t worry How could I ever forget, it’s the first time, the last time we ever met But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, no you don’t fool me The hurt doesn’t show; but the pain still grows It’s no stranger to you or me
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord…

Collins wrote this about the anger he felt after divorcing his first wife Andrea in 1979. He explained on a BBC Radio 2 documentary in 1997 that he took a couple of years out of Genesis because of his devastation.
As we all know that 99% of Phil Collins music always deal with lost love. I thought this music is about a man meeting his ex-wife who have one time been a liar, and just want her to realise no matter how, ha can’t be fool anymore.
There is only one person in the world what the song really means and that’s the artist himself so whatever he says in interview would be 100% right but then again who believe TV these days!
The only reason a lot of people even know of this song is because of Cadbury’s Gorilla Advert Aug 31st 2007. This song, just like Every Breath You Take is talking about Divorce, is about his divorce. He was angry with his wife who cheated on him. He says “if you told me you were drowning I would not lend a hand. It’s like saying if you were burning I wouldn’t piss on you. Ya know, similar to if you needed help, I wouldn’t lend a hand. Phil Collins is a great lyricists. Listen to the song, and imagine going through a divorce, it’ll make perfect sense.
I’ve always loved this song. Everytime I hear it I think of Miami Vice (TV show not movie). They played it when, I believe, Sonny Crockett was driving on a bridge going into a dangerous situation and he stopped to call his wife who he was either separated or divorced from and asked her if there was a time it had been “real” between them. A very powerful moment.
The song has absolutely nothing to do with anyone literally drowning. The drowning signifies a METAPHOR of his relationship. Phil Collins, on MANY OCCASIONS, has addressed this strange phenomenon of the “Friend Drowning” urban legend, and has denied ALL ACCOUNTS of it being anything other than a song about his wife. If you GOOGLE it, everything that pops up explains EXACTLY what I’m saying…URBAN LEGEND!!!
There are several interviews where he addresses these silly statements. He thinks they are ridiculous. He wrote the song because he was going through a divorce with his first wife.
I have always loved this song. Phil was going through a divorce at the time and apparently even he has said that he does not know what this song is about. However, I think it is about “love” betraying him, love is the “friend”, he trusted love to do him right and it betrayed him and he saw what love can do to a person, i.e. broken heart. However, I’m not sure about the line “I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord”. It sounds to me as though “justice” or “resolution” in some form is arriving.
This is a blog, it’s just a place to post what I think of the lyrics so good job. Feel free for posting the kind of comment that the commenting function on this page was made for. If you just really have to cuss me out or something, use my email and keep this site from having to go through the effort of making a “report this comment” button just because I don’t want my readers in the future gets offended by some immature person’s comment.
